Part 1: The Essence

Be the knower

Shift your perspective

Don't play the main actor

In your own life story

Deepen your perspective

Become your consciousness

Then everything you see

Appears outside yourself

Your thoughts and emotions

Your body with all senses

Your whole inner world

Lies fully outside you

You'll see life is a movie

The knower just watches

As the story develops

Without a director

Part 2: The Experience

In that timeless moment

The past joins the present

Good and bad together

Life as it now unfolds

When you know the flow

Of true life in the moment

You spontaneously become:

Wiser, lighter, and at ease

You feel a sense of lightness

A dropping of a burden

A sense of comprehension

That everything is right

The body, mind and senses

Still work in harmony

You see them play together

They are not truly you

Part 3: The Challenge

It is not always easy

To shift to be the knower:

When life gets complicated

The knower is hard to spot

To shift perspective easily

Into the knower state

Better first appreciate

Life, as it is showing

So when you're swept away

By old reruns of karma

Appreciate this moment first

To help you shift your state

To get back on track sooner

When you've lost the way

Aim for progress over time

Keep learning and improving

Part 4: The Shift

This here is the hardest part:

Exactly where to shift to?

One way to shift perspective:

Identify as the knower

It's hard to put in words

But when you see, you recognize

Another way to shift:

See your inner world as outside you

Sometimes it's elusive

As if just out of reach

Then try this way to shift:

Ask yourself: What's really me?

To shift more easily

Something else may help:

Place your being near your heart

Move it from behind your eyes

Part 5: The Routine

Set aside some quiet time

For daily formal practice

At least 10 minutes once a day

With nothing else on mind

Use other quiet moments

To build momentum day by day

The knower sticks eventually

And runs itself effortlessly

And every single day

Read again this poem

To grow the knower stronger

And know the flow of life

The knower needs a good foundation

So live life healthy and fit

Improve your health and strength

With breath, diet and activity

Part 6: The Breath

The breath, however, is unique

As it ties it all together

It reflects your mind and health

How you perform, move and eat

Bring breath towards perfection

Every day for weeks and months

It's hard to be the knower

When breath is weak, erratic

Expand your breathing limits

Keep your attitude relaxed

Breathing deepens contemplation

The knower grows entranced

Sometimes let the breath flow

At other times take control

Give it freedom and structure

The breath is like a stallion

Part 7: The Sequence

Use this contemplative sequence

A five-step breathing exercise:

First take one full slow breath

To be in the moment

Then take two full slow breaths

To appreciate the way it is

Then take three full slow breaths

To sense your whole body

Then take four full slow breaths

To see your inner world outside you

And end with five full slow breaths

To truly be the knower

Keep being the knower

And give it time

When things come together

Life is sublime
